Welcome

to my world

I’m happy you’re here.

Hello!

I’m Heather!

I am an Editorial, Portrait and Intimate Photographer and freelance photojournalist based in Naarm (Melbourne), Victoria.

My practice is based on a genuine curiosity of people and a drive to document and understand humanity and the world around me. I am a passionate storyteller who is committed to capturing raw, uncensored authenticity. It’s not enough to create or take a beautiful photo if it doesn’t make you feel something. I want my photos to be an index to that feeling - to encapsulate our humanity and what it is like to be alive.

At heart I am a collaborator and as a female photographer my practice is characterised by empathy and inclusivity and a deep respect in the voices that make up the human tapestry. I believe in the power of collective storytelling and recognise that collaboration is not just about sharing stories, but about championing voices that have been historically marginalised.

With a keen interest in cultural practices and human behaviour, my work seeks to uncover and reframe cultural rituals and rites of passage and challenge ideas that we accept as normal.
